Hello coffee enthusiasts,
Today I would like to talk about BCB events. I’d like to discuss events at the shop in general, and also highlight a few that we have coming up in the near future. With the holidays approaching quickly, we usually get loaded up with quite a few events as the year comes to a close. Events can certainly be a lot of fun, but there’s a lot of extra effort that goes into them that can sometimes get overlooked.
When it comes to events in general, a majority of the time they are great opportunities for our business. We typically try to commit to as many events as we can because they’re a great way to introduce our shops to people that may not be familiar yet. Due to this exposure, we have gained a lot of interest in our business, and have picked up countless customers just from getting involved. Obviously outside of the added revenue, this is the most beneficial part of getting involved with events.
As for the negative aspects of events, the main one that always comes up is staffing concerns. As I’ve pointed out in previous blog posts, finding quality workers that fit our standards has been tough since the beginning. This creates a bit of an issue when it comes to trying to staff different events because obviously, that takes a handful of our employees out of the typical rotation. The trouble of staffing events is the main reason why we have to occasionally turn opportunities down, but people are usually pretty understanding when this situation pops up.
So you may be wondering, what type of events have we been done or would we be interested in doing in the future? Well we’ve done just about anything and everything you could think of. Bridal showers, baby showers, birthday parties, group meetings and musical acts are a few of the basic events we’ve done in the past. As a reference to the not-so-basic, we actually helped a non-profit organization set up a skate park in our parking lot to host skateboarding lessons for autistic children. Obviously, the style of events that we agree to varies a lot based off of timing, and our staffing situation when the opportunity arises.
As for the upcoming events that I mentioned a little earlier, the New Cumberland Apple Festival is back this Saturday, September 29th. You guys are probably aware by now that this event is the largest event we’re associated with throughout the year, and we’re very excited for this weekend. We will also be involved in an event on Sunday, the 30th, which will be new to us this year. We are kicking off the Harrisburg division of the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, which is a motorcycle ride for men’s prostate cancer and mental health awareness. This will be a fun way for us to give back to the community, and help support a great cause.
Events are a fun way for BCB to get involved, and we look forward to committing to as many events as we can. Always remember to reach out if there is a possible opportunity for us at an event you’re involved in, and make sure to get out this weekend to see what all we have going on.
Until next time,
